Diva Challenge #270 – Skye

Diva Challenge #280 Entry
Tile for Diva Challenge #270. Tangles are Skye, Flux, and Tipple.

The challenge for this week is to create a tile featuring Skye by Margaret Bremner. Skye is a beautiful celtic knot pattern and the step outs can be found here.

I must admit that Skye was not an easy tangle for me  to learn, but it was well worth it. It is so lovely and the possibilities are endless. It would look great as a border too.

For my tile I chose to have Skye as the focal point in the center, and surrounded it with Flux. I filled the interior of Skye with Tipple as well.

Thank you Margaret for this beautiful new pattern, and to Laura for this enjoyable challenge!

Diva Challenge #259 – Touch of Irish

Diva Challenge #259 Entry
Tile for Diva Challenge #259. Tangle: Lucky

With Saint Patrick’s Day falling on March 17 this week, the Diva’s challenge is to “bring a touch of Irish to your tile.” Very appropriate theme for this week! I wanted to incorporate some sort of shamrock pattern, green coloring, and a celtic knot.

After searching around a bit I settled on Lucky by Adele Bruno for the pattern. A step out is available on her blog here. Since I didn’t feel overly confident in my ability to draw a nice celtic knot, I used celtic knot template 9 from ArtoftheTangle.com. The outline of the knot and the details inside the shamrocks were done with a Sakura Gelly Roll Classic (Ice Icream Smooth) green pen. I colored in the knot with a green Derwent Inktense ink pencil.

Thanks to the Diva for another enjoyable challenge!
