About Me

After pursuing a social science related career for some years, I had an epiphany. Having long put aside my interest in the visual arts (as far as creating myself goes)  I realized that deep down I was missing something. I wanted to be creative and do something artistic. It could be a hobby or a job or whatever; as long as I was indulging my interest.

So I began to learn how to use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to edit photographs and to make digital graphics. In addition I studied the principles of design and color theory. I am mostly self-taught through a wide variety of video and written tutorials, books, and articles. In addition I have taken an array of online classes and participated in a number of webinars. Oh yeah, and I also learned how to code a web site by hand.

Becoming a graphical artist and photo editor (enhancing, retouching, restoration) is a good fit for a busy mom. The other side of catching the digital arts bug is that I wanted to draw. At first I simply made doodles and sketches, but then I found Zentangle®. I took a basic class with Lee Darter, Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) in November 2014 and loved it. It is both relaxing and fun to draw tangles, and I have been happily tangling ever since. I do want to stress here that I am not a CZT.

This blog will be an outlet for me to share my artistic efforts. It will also be a place where I post helpful resources and tips and tricks that I have learned to those with similar interests. My husband always tells me to follow my muse (love those Greek muses of the arts and creativity), and so I am following my artistic muse in establishing this blog.
